“An apple a day…” Everyone can finish that saying! Access to chiropractic and spinal manipulation for Southern New Hampshire back pain and neck pain sufferers is reported to do the same. Access needs to be just as simple as access to apples! According to research, chiropractic and spinal manipulation ease pain and diminish the need for escalated treatments and tests when they are easily accessible to neck and back pain sufferers. (Even dogs were helped by veterinary chiropractic spinal manipulation!) New Hampshire Spine and Sport presents gentle spinal manipulation via a well-explained chiropractic treatment plan.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE AND SPINAL MANIPULATION AND BACK PAIN MANAGEMENT
Spinal manipulation is a staple treatment at New Hampshire Spine and Sport with good reason! A rat study of the effect of manipulation and mobilization and sham treatment on decreasing neuroinflammation in acute lumbar radiculopathy (leg pain) demonstrated that manipulation and mobilization did a better job of relieving pain. Manipulation was a bit quicker in providing relief and decreasing severe radiculopathy. (1) Spinal manipulation and mobilization are leading treatments at New Hampshire Spine and Sport for back pain and radiculopathy. We are here for you as soon as you bring your back pain and/or leg pain to our office! New Hampshire Spine and Sport also understands that our Southern New Hampshire chiropractic patients are excited to receive in-office care but not always as motivated to do their at-home care. They are not alone! 89% of chiropractic patients reported making their appointments. That is the easier part! 82% said their chiropractor’s recommendations for treatment and at-home care (stretching and exercise) were understandable, but only 44% of them actually did the at-home care. (2) We know it’s tough to make time at home, and we will continue doing our best at every visit to manage your spinal condition…and supportively remind you to do yours!
SPINAL MANIPULATION AND ACCESS TO CHIROPRACTIC REDUCED NEED FOR MORE ADVANCED CARE
Researchers questioned just how access to chiropractic influenced medically-directed spinal pain care in older adults. In an analysis of Medicare claims for 39,278 older adult chiropractic users, reduced access to chiropractic care increased the use of medical services (primary care physician visits and spine surgeries) for spine pain conditions. The researchers likened this to an additional cost of $114,967 per 1000 beneficiaries ($391 million nationally). (3) That is a lot of money and pain. New Hampshire Spine and Sport makes itself accessible to our Southern New Hampshire spine pain sufferers! Additionally, 42% of neck pain patients receive escalated treatments like imaging, injection, emergency room, surgery. Neck pain patients managed with spinal manipulation – 90% of which is done by chiropractors in the US – were less likely to go onto escalated care. Only 26% of spinal manipulation patients underwent escalated care whereas 46% of neck pain sufferers who pursued other types of care did. They were at twice the risk of treatment escalation. (4) New Hampshire Spine and Sport offers spinal manipulation. Your Southern New Hampshire chiropractor is skilled in performing safe, gentle, relieving spinal manipulation.
EVEN DOGS BENEFIT FROM CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT
There are chiropractic colleagues who also are skilled at doing spinal manipulation on animals! Interesting! Certain dog breeds like boxers tend to acquire spondylosis deformans, a spinal disease noted by disc degeneration and bone spurs. A study of boxer puppies from 8 weeks old to one year of age compared puppies treated with veterinary chiropractic each month to same aged boxers not treated with chiropractic. At one year of age, the treated puppies were found to experience spondylosis significantly less (only 25% were found to have it on imaging) versus the control puppies (46.5% had it on imaging). This suggests that veterinary chiropractic treatment may beneficially reduce the probably of young boxers developing spondylosis. (5) Our Southern New Hampshire furry companions are helped with chiropractic treatment, too!
